My Great Uncle has recently died. Sadly, I don’t think I ever met him. He lived and worked as an artist in France with his boyfriend and had lost touch with the key members of his family until close to his death. Apparently “he decided to distance himself to create his own style”. My father was given all his paintings to sell and/or distribute after his death.

I was interested to read his CV. In it he says this:

“I am Paul Gauguin’s definition of art when he says: “art is the child of the marriage between the objective and the subjective” so for me if the figurative is not in osmosis with the subjective then the child of this marriage would be still born. I work at painting the celebration of life at the same time as its passive side and for that reason I mainly use the female form rather than the male”.

What the f*ck is he talking about.
