My life is in chaos.
The only thing that remains a constant at the moment is my son getting through his GCSE’s. He’s only got two exams left now and he’s either failed them all or passed with flying colours – very hard to translate the grunts.
Yesterday, I accepted an invitation from a lovely friend of mine to attend a presentation for a very interesting new development in Greece (more about that another time). There was a tube strike on but for some reason I decided that although millions of commuters were dealing with two days of severe travel disruption, it wouldn’t affect me because everybody would be going in the other direction.
I had to be in central London by 6pm. Not a problem:-
– Picked teenage son up from school after exam
– Got 8 year old and teenage daughter back from school
– Fed them
– Had to spend a long time doing my make-up because clearly the woman who “threaded” my eyebrows used a pumistone rather than a piece of thread and took off half my skin – even my teenage son who notices nothing asked me why I had a black eye.
– Dressed in manner of professional travel journalist which required trying on a lot of clothes that no longer fit and wearing grown up shoes that hurt my feet even as I put them on.
– Left long list of instructions for babysitter
– Drove to my brother’s house and parked the car
– Waited for a bus. Waited for another bus. Waited for several more buses and then squeezed on one eventually by entering where you’re supposed to exit.
– Bus only took me half way to my destination and then the driver made everybody get off for some unexplained reason
– Only 2 million other people milling around that particular bus stop waiting for some sort of transport to get them home
– No choice therefore but to walk from Hyde Park corner to Tottenham Court Road AGAINST the tide of people all trying to get home because of the tube strike. Nearly passed out from the pain of my shoes.
– Arrived an hour late with no feet left.
– I was the only person who made it. The power point presentation was presented only to me. I took notes and tried to look knowledgeable.
Today I really cannot walk. I have huge blisters and a scabby eye and I also just wanted to apologies to all my lovely blogging buddies for being really rubbish at the moment and not commenting. I just don’t seem to be able to fit everything in.

June 11, 2009Well, I feel very privileged then, you commented on my "family" post!
And I wanted to thank you, feels nice to know someone had a bit of a read. I think I'd better get a bit more motivated with it & post more though, then I might actually get some more readers!
It's OK to be rubbish sometimes. After all, we can't be perfect all the time!

June 11, 2009I tried to think of one good thing that came out of your day, and couldn't.
Eat chocolate, go to bed early and know that we're out here sending good vibes.

June 12, 2009I have one good thing for you. At least you drew the line at the eyebrows and leg wax and don't have any bruising elsewhere!!!
PS I'm with you on the "Hollywood" – all wrong – I tried it out of curiosity once and itched for a week ;o)

June 12, 2009Totally rubbish here too, if it's any consolation. Apparently there is some nasty astrological thing going on.
Ow to walking in killer heels anywhere!

June 12, 2009Trainers sweetie – and Jimmy Choo's in handbag…but good for you to make the trek – I know how far it is!!!!!
Mum's the word
June 12, 2009I did a reverse trek like you but on Tuesday evening.
I thought about my feet and took my lovely shoes in my bag. If the trip was going to be a nightmare, then at least my feet weren't going to hurt.
I managed to scrounge a lift home (Thank you Martin) and fell into bed.
Be nice to your feet, give them a massage.

June 12, 2009At some point in your life you will realize that foot comfort is far more essential than style. You'll walk a lot happier when that happens.

June 15, 2009But you did so well being the only one to get there! What a pro. Slightly disturbed about the threading, I had been meaning to give it a go x
