I don’t ever need an excuse to go to Kew Gardens – I just love it – especially as the seasons change….however, it was an added bonus to be invited to go and check out the David Nash installations spread out around the park. He sculpts wood with a chainsaw and axe which is pretty cool and only ever trees that have fallen naturally.
There were some interesting pieces – I’m not sure all of them blended massively well into the flora of the park – I liked the ones situated in Temperate House best – the large Victorian greenhouse – where David is quoted as saying “the exciting thing for me is to see my work in the jungle. To put them among plants where they are from”. I didn’t want to read too much about each exhibit – preferred to just admire each individual form. Most of them were very touchy feely.
