Is there a label for “early life crisis?” (apart from “tantrums?”). I don’t necessarily agree with categorising children and their ailments, but I definitely think my 7 year old is suffering from ELC (oh how interesting – same as “Early Learning Centre”!). It doesn’t help that his older brother and sister don’t have to get up to go to school this week or next, whilst he trudges off every morning (with me).

Here was his complaint about life on the way up the road…

“It is so not fair. When do I get a life? All I do every day is get up, get dressed, clean my teeth, have breakfast, put my shoes on, do my homework and walk to school. WHY do I have to do that every day? I hate school and I hate walking and it would be better if you let me walk on my own because that would be a bit more interesting. Anyway, then I spend all day at school doing WORK. HOURS OF WORK. Have you any idea how hard and boring it is to have to work ALL DAY..that is from 9am to 3.30pm, that is over 8 hours of work, EVERY DAY. Is that fair? Where is my life? I hate school and then when I get home I will have to do MORE work” and so on and so on….

He has a point there. I used to hate the routine too. (I still do now)
In any case, very articulate and self-aware statement.
