I love my friends. Four of us had the most lovely evening out last night. We took our very special lovely friend out to celebrate her new shiny breast and the fact that she’s completely cured and although it was only 5 WEEKS ago that she had her mastectomy, you would never know that she’s been through anything at all. Quite extraordinary. Amazing. Really amazing.
We drank FAR too much at a lovely restaurant and I especially behaved very badly. The evening was meant to be all about her but at one point I was in tears because of a ridiculous misunderstanding and then she had to console me which was not meant to have happened….we were supposed to be celebrating. I don’t know why I got so upset – they have all decided that I’m perhaps a little more fragile than usual given everything else going on in my life – CAN’T THINK WHY.
Anyway, it didn’t really matter. It’s good to cry sometimes. Not necessarily in a public restaurant though….I pulled myself together, drank some more and then another friend serenaded the waiter on the way out. Two of us fell out of the taxi and then as we were staggering up our road I dropped my handbag. This managed to set off a rape alarm that I happened to have in my bag (a gorgeous, pretty one that I was given for my daughter but she didn’t want it in her bag so I said I’d have it and my 10 y/o laughed and said “don’t worry mum, nobody is going to rape you” and I had to have a serious conversation with him about what “rape” meant)
….but then I couldn’t get the pin in again and just as my friend was trying to jump on it, a police car swooped up next to us within seconds.
Both of us were standing swaying as they got out of the car. “Hello, what appears to be the problem?” I said to one of them. “You are holding a rape alarm that is going off in your hand and we heard it a mile away” he said (good to know it works then). We talked to them for ages – no idea what about, but I remember my friend asking them to drive us to somewhere more interesting and we kept telling them how good looking they both were. How embarrassing.
I then sent a totally incoherent text to my friend in Australia. Left an incoherent message for Builder Bloke, took my earrings out of one ear only and then passed out (all children away on sleepovers in case you were wondering).
Teaching this morning was HORRENDOUS. TWO CLASSES IN A ROW. Torture. Served me right. Made even worse by the fact that one of the women farted very loudly during one of the exercises and I thought I was going to get a hysterical bout of giggles.
Not good at all.

October 21, 2010Now that’s My kind of night out! good for you girl!!! Don’t you just hate those fart moments when you know you should be all grown up about it but really you just want to die laughing! Old woman near me did it during communion once. I had to keep my head down in solid prayer for ages. If I’d have lifting my head they would have seen I was crying with laughter!

October 22, 2010My daughter takes great joy in farting loudly in front of me. And the rest of the family.
My brother told her once to be proud and own her own farts and unfortunately she took him to his word. It was kind of funny when she was little, but she’s still doing it at 17. She seriously cracks herself up every time she farts.
I don’t know weather I should be glad she’s so self confident (like wearing odd socks all the time) or try to get her to fit in.
Like I’d have a hope in hell.
