I sent a text a few days ago to my ex-husband asking him if he wanted to have the children to stay on Tuesday night. It’s his birthday the next day. Which is a good thing because they will all go out for dinner to celebrate. We’ve been out buying presents for him today – I asked them what they wanted to buy him and as ever they all agreed on a “Fat Face T-shirt, CD, book, DVD, chocolate and socks”.
My 7 year old has just drawn a fantastic card for his father’s birthday. On the front there are all sorts of different sporting activities and on the back it says “you are so good at everything, football, cricket, golf…” He showed it to me and I told him I thought that it was lovely…I must have looked a bit wistful for a moment because he said “don’t worry mum, I’ll draw one of these when it’s your birthday and it’s going to say “you are really good at drinking your wine and walking with your friends”.
I just love it when your children put you on a pedestal don’t you?
