Whilst Britain braced itself for gale force winds and storms across the country this weekend, my daughter mentioned her homework. “Mum, do you remember the storms in ’89?” “Yes. Definitely. We got stranded somewhere and my grandparents trees all fell down and bla bla on and on I droned”…sounding like an incredibly old person talking about ancient history. “Oh” she said quietly. “Why do you need to know?” I asked her.
“Well, last week” she said “our homework was to find out what memories our parents had of the storm and then to write and talk about it at school, but when it came to my turn, because I had hadn’t done it I just said that you couldn’t remember it happening”.
Great. So now when I go to my next parent teacher consultation they’re going to think I’m an idiot.

November 17, 2009Oh, funny. Maybe you could claim amnesia for that period of time, like in the soap operas?

Anyway, good luck with the new site.
Family Affairs
November 17, 2009I’m going to leave the old one open for a little bit longer to make sure all my mates have moved over to my new house and then shut it down….I’ve brought most (not all but you know which ones they are) of my old stuff over with me. Change is a good thing I keep telling myself whilst being terrified and not knowing how to navigate myself around. Thanks for dropping in DD. You and I go back a LONG way now LX
