My son was really looking forward to going to the school disco at his old school this evening. He was going with four other boys who left the school a year early for different reasons. One left to go and live in Australia and is briefly back for the holidays.

Disappointing then to find that they have been told they are not welcome. That some of the parents in the other class don’t think it’s appropriate to allow “alumni” to attend. ALUMNI?? They’re 11.

I can’t help feeling a little sad for the boys and little more sad for parents that make decisions like that. I don’t understand why it should matter to them whether “old boys” are there or not, seeing all their old mates. Aren’t they still all entitled to enjoy celebrating all the years they were there together at the school?

Or have I missed something here?

All sounds a bit pathetic to me, I don’t see the issue either.
