Well that was embarrassing. I have just been to an exercise class taught by a gorgeous octogenarian with a view to covering her classes from time to time. Well, how hard can it be? I asked myself before I offered to attend her class. Too hard, as it happens. We did loads of leg work at the bar and I couldn’t bloody lift my leg of the floor. Having given up ballet at the age of five I was rubbish. I tried really hard obviously but I now can’t walk. She told me at the end that she would probably just cancel the class if she wasn’t able to teach, which says everything I needed to know.
I have stressed children. My daughter who is in her first year of GCSE’s seems to only be doing art. I have no idea what has happened to all the other subjects, but art is taking up ALL her time and my floor and walls seem to be covered in either little bits of paper or glue or 100’s and 1000’s.
My 10 y/o is nervously awaiting his exam results. I feel relatively confident that he will be fine, but his homework yesterday left a little to be desired. He had to revise for a spelling test and use the various words in a sentence. The list included:
Knee
Knelt
Kneeling
Knight
Knob
Knife
etc….
It was all going quite well –
“I kneel before the king”
“I knelt before the king”
“I am kneeling before the king”
that sort of thing until he went slightly off track and wrote
“I have a really big knob” .
By mutual consent he agreed to change it to “I have a really big door knob“

February 8, 2011Isn’t there a line in “Love Actually” where someone says he has a really big knob? LOL Oh–I love that movie. You and your friend should add it to your list of movies to watch. Your Maltesers sound like our Whoppers candy–definitely a movie-must! 🙂
